Phase 1 Athlete Corbin Brown, is moving from one paradise to another.
By Ken Chapman, Phase 1 Sports
Aloha, Corbin
Corbin, an All-State safety from Spring Valley HS, recently accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Hawaii. Several programs paid attention after Corbin had a successful Scout.com combine in Los Angeles. This combine helped Corbin become the 2nd ranked player in Nevada and the 40th ranked Safety in the US.
“Phase 1’s training and combines helped a lot,” says Corbin, who has been training with Mike Waters for three years now. “It’s been great training with Mike. Because of how long I’ve been with him I really relate to him. It’s like training with a great friend.”
When asked about how he has improved over the last few years, Corbin listed several key attributes needed to be a successful player, such as his speed and agility. However, he knows there is still room for improvement. “(Hawaii coaches) want me to get bigger, and improve my tackling, being able to drive through the tackle. They know that I can do it.”
It will be great seeing Corbin continually improve, even while at Hawaii. Since UNLV and Hawaii have a developing rivalry, we will certainly see Corbin over the next few seasons. Asked if he would get Mike, a UNLV alum, tickets to a game, Corbin replied, “Maybe.” Mike responded, “Like I tell all our other athletes, if you are a starter and only if you are a starter, I will not only accept your ticket but I will even wear a Hawaii shirt to the game"

P1 Athlete Showcase Skills at Scout Combine
Exposure is the name of the recruiting game and events like the Scout Combine can get the job done. On the 29th of April a number of Las Vegas Football players proved they were worthy of national attention.
Eight athletes traveled to CA with Phase 1 while another five athletes met President Mike Waters and the boys at the location. Once the day was done Las Vegas took another step in gaining national exposure that has been missing from the Las Vegas Valley. The two athletes that stood out the most were Mike Ball (Desert Pines) and Corbin Brown (Spring Valley). Both athletes posted 4.5 forty's, over 30" verticals, sub 7 second L-drills, over 9 foot broad jumps, and shuttles 4.3 or less.
Following the testing portion of the combine the athletes battled in one-on-ones where a number of local athletes stood out above the crowd. The list of athletes included:
Kris Anglin (Sierra Vista), Cejay Ceniza (Sierra Vista), Ryan Patterson (Western), Ryan Kuehl (Durango), Mike Muise (Spring Valley), Eric Dyer (Spring Valley), Frank Satterfield (Green Valley), Greg Henderson (Basic), Jourdan Dixon (Green Valley), Rashaun Lawrence (Cimarron), Stefan Klein (Spring Valley), Travis Harris (Spring Valley), and the sophomore Quincy Bagsby (Green Valley).
With a number of offers all ready on the table by the time it’s all said and done the majority if not all of these athletes will be playing at the next level.
The next combine will be held on May 25th at Valley High School. For more information contact your high school coach.
